Farming as an incremental

Wheat Clicker — Human's Farm — starts you on one grain per click and nothing per second, and hands you a shop split between click upgrades and per-second ones: Rusty Scythe at 100 grains for 1 per click, Old Harvester at 500 for 1 per second, Laser Scythe at 2K for 3 per click, Turbo Harvester at 5K for 10 per second, then diamond scythes, laser threshers, steam tractors and fertilizer.

It is unusually legible for the genre: every purchase states exactly what it adds and whether it adds it per click or per second.

Click upgrades or harvesters?

• Harvesters, almost always. A per-second upgrade earns while you read the shop; a per-click one earns only while you are working.
• The exception is the very start, where one click upgrade gets you to the first harvester noticeably faster.
• When two purchases cost the same, take the per-second one even if its number is smaller.

Reading the shop

Divide the cost by what it produces and buy the best ratio. The shop is ordered by price, not by value, and the ordering is misleading more than once — the Laser Scythe at 2K for 3 per click is worse value than the Old Harvester at 500 for 1 per second within about a minute.

That arithmetic is the whole strategy of the game, and it is a better teacher of the genre than most.
